About GoodWe
GoodWe makes residential solar and hybrid inverters, home batteries, an EV charger and the SEMS monitoring platform.
It suits homeowners who want a mainstream brand with a wide model range and a free monitoring app, and who are willing to pick a careful installer so the warranty conditions stay met.
The GoodWe products we install each have their own guide: GoodWe Battery (Lynx), GoodWe ESA, GoodWe Inverters, GoodWe EV Charger. Our Inverter Installation page explains how we approach the installation.
The GoodWe range we install

GoodWe Battery (Lynx)
The right GoodWe Lynx for your home depends on which GoodWe inverter you have or are quoting: the Lynx D G2 pairs with the ESA, ET G2 and ET30 inverters, the Lynx F G2 with the EH and ET series, and the Lynx U G3 with other GoodWe hybrids, then you size the modules to your overnight use. Any Lynx of 10 kWh usable or more reaches the maximum WA rebate on top of the federal battery discount, which is tiered from 1 May 2026 at the full rate for the first 14 kWh of usable capacity.
This page helps you match a Lynx to your inverter, choose a size for your household, and understand the warranty and rebate conditions before you commit.

GoodWe ESA
The GoodWe ESA is an all-in-one solar and storage system that bundles the hybrid (or AC-coupled) inverter and a stackable LiFePO4 battery into a single IP66-rated outdoor cabinet, with whole-home backup and switchover under 4 ms. This page walks through each of those, plus the WA rebate conditions and the connectivity point that matters most in day-to-day ownership.

GoodWe Inverters
GoodWe makes grid-tied inverters (the single-phase DNS G4 and MS G4, and the three-phase SDT G2 and SDT G3) and hybrid inverters that work with a battery (the single-phase EH and EHB, and the three-phase ET and ET G2), plus the SBP G2 for retrofitting a battery to an existing solar system. The first decision is whether your home is single-phase or three-phase, which is set by your supply and confirmed at the site visit; the second is whether you want solar only, solar with a battery now, or solar now and a battery later.
This page walks through the sizing within each family, the 10-year warranty conditions, backup during a blackout, and the smart meter options so you can decide which GoodWe inverter suits your home.

GoodWe EV Charger
If your home has single-phase power the GoodWe HCA G2 7kW is the model that fits; if you have three-phase power you can choose the 11kW or the 22kW for faster charging. All three can charge from your solar using PV Priority mode, with smart phase switching following the sun through the day on the three-phase models.
Which GoodWe product do you need?
Start with the job the product has to do, then narrow down to the model.
- If you want solar only on a standard single-phase supply, choose a GoodWe inverter from the DNS or MS series: DNS covers 3-6 kW and MS covers 7.5-10 kW on single phase.
- If your home is on three-phase power, choose a three-phase GoodWe inverter from the SDT G3 series, which covers 5 kW up to 29.9 kW with three MPPTs.
- If you are installing solar and a battery together, choose a hybrid GoodWe inverter: EHB or ES G2 for single phase, or ET G2 for three phase.
- If you already have solar and just want to add a battery, choose the GoodWe battery with the SBP G2 AC-coupled retrofit inverter, which bolts onto an existing system.
- If you want an all-in-one single-phase battery system with large usable storage, choose the GoodWe ESA, which is sized from 3-10 kW output and 5-108 kWh of storage.
- If you want to add home EV charging later, choose the GoodWe EV charger from the HCA series: 7 kW single-phase or 11/22 kW three-phase, managed in the same SEMS+ app.
GoodWe warranty in plain terms
GoodWe’s standard on-grid and hybrid inverter warranty is 5 years. On the DNS, DNS G3, MS and MS G3 series there is an additional 5 years of spare parts warranty on top of that. Eligible on-grid models can be upgraded to a 10-year warranty under a manufacturer promotion, but only if the conditions are met, including registration and connection on the SEMS portal after 1 January 2021. We handle the registration at commissioning; your part is to keep the Wi-Fi connected so the system stays visible on SEMS.
The Lynx D G2 battery carries a 10-year product warranty and a 10-year performance guarantee: at least 70% usable energy retention from the warranty start date, based on one full cycle per day and a minimum DC throughput of 3.0 MWh per kWh of usable capacity. Warranty cover in Australia and New Zealand includes hardware, transport and labour.
Claims start with the installer or local distributor and must be lodged within one month of the failure date. Common exclusions to be aware of: faults from faulty installation or operation, damage from coastal or saltwater exposure without written approval, and inverter damage caused by pairing with an incompatible battery.
The SEMS+ app and monitoring
GoodWe’s monitoring is a free platform called SEMS, with the SEMS+ app on your phone. From one app you can see live solar generation, home usage and battery charge level, and manage connected devices such as the inverter and a GoodWe EV charger. Important alerts are pushed straight to your phone, so you know early if the system has stopped generating or has dropped offline. Keeping the system connected to your Wi-Fi matters: it is how you see what the system is doing, and it is one of the conditions for the 10-year on-grid inverter promotion.
Things to know before you buy
Pros
A full residential range so one brand can cover single-phase or three-phase solar, hybrid, AC-coupled retrofit and battery, all under one monitoring app
One of the more affordable battery brands per warranted kWh of storage
Automatic reboot after an under-voltage cutout, which is useful if the grid briefly dips
Backup is supported on the hybrid and storage products, with sub-10 ms UPS-level switching when backup is wired in
A free monitoring platform, SEMS+, that handles the inverter, battery and a GoodWe EV charger from one app
Things to consider
The 10-year inverter warranty is conditional, not automatic. To get the extended term on eligible on-grid models the inverter must be registered and connected on the SEMS portal after 1 January 2021 and the other promotion conditions met. If the Wi-Fi drops off and no one notices, you can lose the extension; we register the system at commissioning and show you how to check it is still online.
A recall dated 29 February 2024 covers the AC plug on MS G3 inverters (5-10 kW) with free on-site rectification, and a recall in late September 2025 covers EHB and GE-branded GEH hybrid inverters where the bypass switch could allow export during backup mode. If you already own one of these, the manufacturer’s remedy applies; for new installs we check the model and serial against the current recall notices before we quote.
Owners most commonly complain about the Wi-Fi dongle dropping its connection. Reports of the service desk being slow to replace dongles under warranty also come up. A dropped connection does not stop the system generating, but it can affect the 10-year warranty condition, so flag it with us early rather than leaving it.
Older Lynx batteries only pair with certain GoodWe inverters. If you are adding storage to an existing GoodWe inverter, we check compatibility at the assessment before quoting a battery, because the wrong pairing can mean an inverter change or an AC-coupled retrofit instead.
Installer choice matters with this brand. A poorly installed inverter can void the warranty under the exclusion for faulty installation or operation. The manufacturer’s claim route starts with the installer, so pick one you can get on the phone in a few years’ time.
What a GoodWe installation involves
On-site assessment and switchboard check
We visit the property and inspect the existing solar system (if any), the switchboard and the space where the inverter or battery would go. The switchboard is checked for its condition, available space and distance to the proposed location; any upgrade needed to accommodate a battery or new inverter is identified and quoted up front.
Compatibility and backup wiring choice
We check whether your existing inverter can work with a battery directly or whether a hybrid inverter or AC-coupled retrofit is the better path. If you want blackout backup, we walk through which circuits (for example the fridge, lights and a few power points) will stay on, because a battery only supplies power during a blackout if it is set up and wired for backup.
Installation day
Technicians mount the inverter and, where fitted, the battery in a shaded, ventilated position, fit isolators and route the cabling between the array, inverter, battery and switchboard. The install is tidy and documented so a future electrician can read it.
Network approval and commissioning
The installation is documented and connected to meet Australian standards and the local network requirements (Western Power in the Perth metropolitan area, with Synergy for the retail side). Commissioning is done to the relevant standards, which for home batteries includes AS/NZS 5139, and we configure the charge and discharge settings.
SEMS registration and app walkthrough
Before we leave, we register the system on the SEMS portal so the warranty conditions are satisfied, connect the monitoring, and show you how to read the SEMS+ app: battery level, solar generation, household usage and the alerts. We cover aftercare so you know what to watch for.
GoodWe questions Perth homeowners ask
How good are GoodWe inverters?
Reviewers generally rate the current generation well on value, and features like automatic reboot after an under-voltage cutout are useful.
Which solar inverter is best in Australia?
There is no single best inverter for every home: the right one depends on whether your supply is single-phase or three-phase, how big the solar array is, whether you want to add a battery now or later, and whether you need blackout backup. Within the GoodWe range we match the series to those answers rather than picking one model for everyone.
How long do GoodWe inverters last?
The manufacturer covers on-grid and hybrid inverters with a 5-year standard warranty, with an additional 5 years of spare parts warranty on the DNS, DNS G3, MS and MS G3 series. Eligible on-grid models can be upgraded to a 10-year warranty under a manufacturer promotion if the conditions are met, including registration and connection on the SEMS portal after 1 January 2021. Actual service life depends on the installation and the conditions it runs in, so a careful install and keeping the unit shaded and ventilated matter.
Who manufactures GoodWe batteries?
GoodWe makes its own residential battery range for the Australian market, including the Lynx D G2 and Lynx F G2 high-voltage batteries, the Lynx U G3 and Lynx Home U low-voltage batteries, and the ESA single-phase storage system.
