How the Sigen Hybrid inverter works
The Sigen Hybrid is a 2nd-generation hybrid inverter: it runs your solar array today and manages a battery whenever you choose to add one. It has two MPP trackers, so you can connect panels on two different roof faces and get the best out of each. The SP2 range covers single-phase homes from 3.0 to 6.0 kW; the TP2 range covers three-phase homes from 5.0 to 12.0 kW.
When you’re ready for storage, the inverter pairs with the SigenStor BC battery controller and SigenStor BAT battery modules, one to six modules per controller. For instant blackout backup, the system also needs the Sigen Energy Gateway, which detects the grid dropping out and switches the backed-up circuits across in 0 ms. The unit is IP66-rated, so it can live outside under shelter, and it supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, RS485 and an optional 4G module for monitoring.

Choosing the right Sigen Hybrid model
Single-phase (SP2) or three-phase (TP2). Match the inverter to your supply. We confirm the supply at the site visit.
Sizing to your array. Each model has a maximum DC input (how many panels you can connect) and a nominal AC output (how much it feeds the house and grid). For example, a mid-sized home putting 10 kW of panels on the roof fits the 5.0 SP2 (up to 10,000 W PV in, 4,999 W AC out) or the 5.0 TP2 if three phase (10,000 W PV in, 5,000 W AC out).
A larger home planning around 13 kW of panels on three phase suits the 8.0 TP2 (up to 16,000 W PV, 8,000 W AC out). If you want the full 10 kW export some three-phase connections allow, the 10.0 TP2 handles 20,000 W of panels and outputs 9,999 W.
If you plan to add a battery later, the inverter size doesn’t change: the SigenStor BC controller bolts onto any SP2 or TP2 whenever you’re ready. Pick the inverter for your solar array and household load today, not for a battery you’ll size separately down the track.

What installation involves
We start with a site visit. We check the switchboard, confirm whether you’re on single or three phase, measure the proposed inverter location, and talk through your household’s usage pattern. If you want blackout backup, we agree which circuits (fridge, lights, selected power points) should sit on the backup side and whether the Sigen Energy Gateway and a Sigen Battery are going in now or later.
Before the install we lodge the network application with Western Power and, for Synergy customers, the connection paperwork. On the day the technicians mount the inverter in a shaded, ventilated spot, run the DC and AC cabling, install isolators, and connect any battery and gateway hardware. Commissioning is done to the relevant Australian standards (AS/NZS 5139 where a battery is included), the monitoring app is set up with you on your phone, and we walk you through how to read solar generation, household usage and battery charge level before we leave.
One practical tip: keep the inverter online. The 10-year warranty depends on it.
Things to know before you buy
Pros
Hybrid design lets you install solar now and add a Sigen Battery later without replacing the inverter.
Two MPP trackers handle arrays on two roof orientations.
Instant 0 ms switchover to backup when paired with the Sigen Energy Gateway and a Sigen Battery.
IP66 outdoor rating, so it can be mounted outside under cover.
Flexible monitoring and comms: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, RS485 or optional 4G.
Things to consider
The warranty needs an internet connection. Sigenergy’s 10-year cover drops to 5 years from the activation date if the inverter is offline for more than a year. We set up monitoring at commissioning and recommend keeping the connection live.
Claims must be lodged quickly. Sigenergy asks for warranty claims within 30 days of the failure date. If something isn’t right, call us straight away so we can log it in time.
Recorded recall on earlier single-phase units. In November 2025 a voluntary recall was published for some single-phase Sigen Energy Controllers with quick-connect AC plugs that could overheat. Sigenergy’s remedy was a free replacement, a firmware update and extra warranty. Reported faults were linked to poor terminations, which is why install quality matters as much as the brand on the box: we terminate and torque every connection to the standard.
Backup isn’t automatic. Instant blackout backup needs the Sigen Energy Gateway and a Sigen Battery alongside the inverter. Decide at quote stage whether you want backup, and which circuits, so the wiring is right from day one.
Battery add-on uses a specific controller. To connect a Sigen Battery to an SP2 or TP2, the SigenStor BC battery controller is required. We quote the controller and modules together when you’re ready to add storage.
Sigenergy inverter questions Perth homeowners ask
Are Sigenergy inverters any good?
The Sigen Hybrid is a current-generation hybrid inverter with a 10-year warranty, two MPP trackers, and a clear upgrade path to a Sigen Battery later. Owners commonly praise the monitoring app and the flexibility of adding storage without replacing the inverter. The main thing to understand upfront is the backup and warranty conditions, which this page covers.
What size Sigenergy inverter do I need?
Match the inverter to your solar array size and your phase supply. A 5.0 SP2 takes up to 10,000 W of panels and outputs 4,999 W to the grid, while a 10.0 TP2 takes 20,000 W of panels and outputs 9,999 W. We confirm your phase and array size at the site visit and recommend the model that suits your home.
How much is a 10kW Sigenergy inverter?
Pricing depends on your switchboard, the installation location, and whether you add a battery or EV charger at the same time. We provide a written quote after a site visit so the figure reflects your home, not a generic installed price.
What are the 3 main types of solar inverters?
String inverters, microinverters and hybrid inverters. The Sigen Hybrid is a hybrid: it runs your solar panels and can also charge and discharge a battery through a battery controller. That means you can install solar now and add storage later without replacing the inverter.
Is Sigenergy a Chinese company?
Sigenergy is a global brand with Australian sales and support. We install the Australian SP2 and TP2 models, which are the current 2nd-generation Sigen Hybrid inverters covered by Sigenergy’s 10-year warranty.
Should my solar inverter turn off at night?
A solar-only inverter stops exporting at night because there’s no sun. A hybrid like the Sigen Hybrid keeps managing the household when a battery is connected: discharging stored energy to run your home and, in a blackout, supplying backup circuits when paired with the Sigen Energy Gateway.
